It was convenient

It wasn’t because it was me

It wasn’t because I was there

It was because she didn’t want to go back to her apartment

I was convenient

The smirk on her face

As she lay on my bed,

But I made her leave

And walked her back to her room.

I was convenient

I wanted her to stay,

But I knew it wouldn’t be good for me.

I said it wouldn’t be fair to her ex,

But we both knew that was bullshit.

It was convenient

I knew it would feel nice

To have someone sleeping next to me,

But I couldn’t do it

Because I’d be wrapped around her fingers again.

I’m a toy

A play thing

Only taken down from the shelf

When it’s convenient.
