Editor-in-Chief: Sabrina Loftus
I’m Sabrina—as you may have noted. I am currently EIC for this blog and have been editing for nearly three years now. I began editing for Valencia College’s The Phoenix literary magazine and realized I had a passion for the art ever since. I’ve been working with The Darkened Quill for over a year now and have enjoyed it every step of the way. Being able to transform a raw gem into a polished beauty through the process of critiques and revisions is by far the most rewarding aspect of my chaotic life.
Senior Content Writer: Abigail Duncanson
My name is Abby. I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I learned how. I didn’t start writing until much later when a teacher commented on my habit of devouring anything I could get my hands on. Before her suggestion, I had never considered writing my own stories. I guess I really should thank her because it led me to where I am today. I like writing short stories and longer pieces of fiction, but I have recently put more effort into writing poetry. I come from a pretty big Caribbean family and my race and ethnicity often influence my writing.
Editor: Zach Iezzi
I’m Zach Iezzi, and I’m an editor for The Darkened Quill. I manage to keep myself happy in this crazy world by expressing myself in various facets of my life. My love of creative thinking, semantics, language, and the indefinable and innumerable subtleties of the human language and emotional spectrum come into play when I read fantasy or science fiction novels, as well as spending quality time with my friends and my wonderful girlfriend. I will always hold a special place for the Kingkiller Chronicles book series, any of the Netflix original series or incredible TV shows (Rick and Morty) I’ve come across, and the rich and complex universes of Halo and Star Wars.
Content Writer: Kira Wolak
I guess you could say I have the Heart of an English Major and the Brain of an Accounting Major. I don’t take astrology super seriously, but I’m basically the textbook definition of a Gemini. My favorite thing about being a writer is exploring endless possibilities, becoming different people, and exposing your true feelings, inhibitions, and self through something as simple as words (that, and being able to say vague, lofty things and label eccentricities as being “in the pursuit of true art”). My favorite author is Markus Zusak. Gone with the Wind is possibly the greatest book that has ever been written (and so much more than a cheesy romance). I plan to use this blog as a playground to practice various techniques within short works, but my dream is to write fiction novels (and screenplays!). So, here’s to hoping that one day I will gain the upper hand on the words who eternally kick my butt!
Editor: Renee Luna
My name is Renee Luna. I’m a huge fan of romance novels and when I’m not reading I love to cook, do yoga, or go out on spontaneous adventures with my friends and family. As I grew older I knew reading wasn’t going to be a hobby of mine; I wanted to pursue a career in the literary industry. It wasn’t until I started college that I soon realized I wanted to be an editor. This is why I’m so excited to be a part of The Darkened Quill–to be able to work with amazing writers by bringing their creative pieces to life and getting it out into the world for other people to be inspired by.
